San Francisco Framed Prints
A densely populated city, San Francisco is still one of the places with the highest living standards in the entire United States. The San Francisco Bay area is one of the most beautiful ones on the entire Western coast and not surprisingly the focal point of attention for Framed San Francisco Art. FramedArt.com has assembled a comprehensive selection of art prints spanning all the way back to 1776 when the city of San Francisco was founded by Spanish colonists.
The California Gold Rush marked the beginning of an accelerated expansion for all the cities on the West Coast and San Francisco experience the fastest growth. Images of the half a century following the gold rush can still be found in black and white among Framed San Francisco Art. Many of the buildings built over that period of time were destroyed at the turn-of-the-century, when the massive fire and earthquake of 1906 wiped out almost three quarters of San Francisco.
The city sits on a massive tectonic fault, therefore prone to destruction caused by earthquakes, something that architects and engineers take seriously. The most important landmarks have been reinforced while new structures are built in such a way that they would be able to withstand devastating earthquakes. Among the iconic structures that sit high on the list of priorities for tourists, the Golden Gate Bridge is definitely the leading attraction and it appears in numerous Framed San Francisco Art prints.
