Urban Cricket was founded in 2009 by Audrey and Gloria who lived in a small apartment in New York City. The two made the drawings, came out with concepts, learned silk-screening, and soon their first folding table was set up in Union Square and they began their work. Today their paintings, prints, posters and art, can be found in numerous corporate and private collections. They have exhibited their work in numerous group and solo shows. Audrey and Gloria work in a variety of styles, yet they see no contradiction in these approaches. They believe that the best art helps break down perceptions that are so taken for granted, that are so deeply ingrained that they seem real. For Audrey and Gloria successful art destroys the obvious connections by which people make new connections and construct their realities. The two believe that art is never a finished product, but it’s a living, an immediate, a moving process which begins again with all prints poster, and art, with every viewer realizing infinite alternatives from their own perception. Urban Cricket’s search is for harmony through extraordinary multi-layered abstracts and color overlays. The lasting effect from their work is one of emotion, purity, and seduction. All Urban Cricket products are illustrated and designed by one or both Audrey and Gloria, and hand printed largely in their store/studio located at 29 Essex Street in New York City. Ready to mount framed Urban Cricket art are in great demand allover the world. That’s why they are found in many private and pubic collections and institutions.
