Sir Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 – May 30, 1640) was a Flemish artist whose fame grew across Europe during his prime. He created numerous creative works with religious, historical, and mythological themes. Rubens employed a creative combination of rich brushwork, realism, and Renaissance classicism that made his works stand out. He was born in Germany, formerly Westphalia, in a town called Siegen. They later moved together with his family to Antwerp in Belgium, then Spanish Netherlands. It's there that he got training in art before being apprenticed to a number of reputable artists.
Rubens would later move to Italy in 1600 where he studied the works of Renaissance masters such as Tintoretto and Titian in Venice and Michelangelo and Raphael in Rome. It didn't take long before he landed a job with the Duke of Mantua. His job involved creating portraits with all his travel expenses covered by the Duke. Rubens portrayed great business skills and started getting several commissions. In 1608, he moved back to Antwerp where he established a studio and employed staff members. He worked for royal clients and did several paintings, including religious commissions. At the time of his death, he had become a widely acclaimed artist in the whole of Europe. Rubens demonstrated great skill in creating powerful arrangements and an ability to create complex pieces in large scale. Several artists have admired his works, including Rembrandt, an artist of his time, as well as others from other locations such as Eugène Delacroix and Thomas Gainsborough.
Years after his death, his works are still widely sought for and are available in museums and galleries across the globe. Sir Peter Paul Rubens framed art are available in galleries and art dealerships.
