Heather Jacks specializes in fine art. She’s award-winning photographer who currently lives in Maryland. Her pieces of art have been featured in national and international publications as well as at galleries throughout the U.S. Her attention to shadow, light, and texture make her style truly unique. She’s a contemporary photographer and painter whose work can be seen at Foundry gallery in Washington D.C. Her art has been included in numerous corporate collections and public installations throughout the country. Painting is a cathartic and expressive process for her. As the artist applies layer after layer of oil paint mixed with cold wax and scrape back some areas to reveal the underlying colors and layers, she ultimately reaches a point at which she knows that the work is complete. Heather chooses to create artwork that’s non-objective because she finds them gratifying and sincere. She starts with no preconceived notion about what the work will become. She just listens to her intuition and let the surfaces emerge. She uses various tools to create texture and marks on the surface of the paint. She also applies a solvent to the top layer to remove color in some areas. Heather works directly with some of her clients to help place her original art in site specific locations. The framed Heather Jacks art currently adorn the walls of many prestigious buildings across the globe. She continuously swings between the breaking point and equilibrium. A splash of color, a drawn line, and a pattern, all fuse into a fascinating visual language. Spontaneous line drawing and mark making are an important part of her process.
