Blue Art

Blue is the favorite color for most people, so it comes as no surprise that the framed blue prints are every bit as popular in many cultures. There are of course some less positive connotations for this color, which is occasionally associated with loneliness and sadness. “Feeling blue” is an expression that artists have frequently tried to incorporate in their paintings. That’s why some of the printings have the tendency to induce melancholy and nostalgia, albeit in a very subtle and smooth manner.

In ancient times, the color blue was difficult to obtain and the ingredients necessary were extremely expensive. They were transported for long distances, to decorate the eyebrows on funeral mass for pharaohs but also to paint papyrus or wood in ancient Egypt. Framed blue wall art were not only regarded as beautiful many centuries ago, but also acted as a ward against maleficent beings and allegedly had the power of protecting the dead against all the evil creatures in the afterlife.
