Jerome Andrews’ creative journey is reflected in the evolution of his artwork. For him visual awareness is made up of both an internal dimension which is the repository of his life experiences, and an external dimension which is the complexity of life as people see it. His subconscious mind overwhelms him with an array of emotions, colors and pictures that he’s compelled to express on paper. At present he’s the owner and curator of Gallery Deer Island, West Isles, and the Jerome Andrews' Studio. One can find him at work in his studio regularly, and he welcomes everyone to visit his gallery and studio by appointment during the winter months or without an appointment during the summer months. Here viewers will find several framed Jerome Andrews art of different sizes. Andrews says that a single image can move on a creative path that takes on a life of its own. That creative path carries him along, and he builds on it until the creative journey ends. In his work, there’s usually a light side, and a fun, humorous side with playful images of fish and cats, contrasted against a forbidden and darker glimpse into this predator world where survival is for the fittest according to the Darwinian Theory. He studied at University of Maine at Machias. After his graduation he worked as a self-employed painter and has 3 albums on his wall. He works in watercolors and acrylics. His work describes simplicity of life that exists in reality. His art is stocked by many discriminating collectors.
