Framed Vintage Car Art
Framed vintage car posters are no doubt one of the most fun types of artwork to look at. Who doesn’t love vintage automobiles? Art in this category ranges from paintings, to black-and-white photographs, to color panoramas, to racing advertisements for the Grand Prix.
Artists like John Maggiotto and Retro Classics prefer film over paint. Their work primarily consists of striking close-up photos of classic cars. Retro Classic’s “1959 Porsche,” for example, is a close-up of a vintage Porsche’s steering wheel and dashboard, done in black and white. Maggiotto’s framed vintage car art piece titled “Grille” is taken from a unique vantage point; the photograph shows one side of the grille—lights and all—of a classic Cadillac. Like Retro Classic’s work, Maggiotto’s pieces are also in black and white, giving them a cool retro vibe.
Other artists, such as Ben James and American Flat, use specific cities as inspiration for their framed vintage car artwork. American Flat’s “Malibu,” for instance, utilizes a Malibu beachside sunset as the backdrop for a bright and colorful image of a vintage red-and-white Volkswagen bus. On top of the bus are two surfboards—one purple, the other white—and the word “Malibu” is printed in yellow across the top of the piece itself. James takes a similar approach in his piece “New York – Cop Car.” A simple blue background sets the stage for a frontal view of a classic New York City police car, with the words “New York” printed beneath.
Framed vintage car art isn’t just for lovers of classic cars. Anyone can appreciate the details artists put into their work of these smooth rides. Take a look at any one of these art pieces and you’ll wish you were going for a drive yourself.
