Framed For the Lover Prints
For some enthusiasts, only the best framed art for the art lover will do. These pieces include iconic images from renowned artists, as well as compelling imagery from less well-known artists. Each of these pieces has something special to recommend it to the most selective of art collectors.
Flowers are a recurring theme in framed art pieces for the art lover. Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” series is emblematic of the Impressionist period in European art, and paintings in that series hang in some of the world’s finest galleries. Diego Rivera combines white lilies with more earthy imagery in paintings like “Nude with Calla Lillies,” emphasizing the working class struggle that Rivera so frequently portrayed in his work. Even surrealism is represented here in the form of Salvador Dali’s “Meditative Rose,” which features a disembodied rose flower in the sky.
Another common theme in framed artwork for the art lover is the classic still life. The still life as it is known today evolved during the Renaissance, with the contrast between light and shadow being heavily emphasized and sometimes even exaggerated. Today’s still life pieces show this influence, such as Loran Speck’s “Wine Bottle, Grapes, and Walnuts.” A warm light glows on the left hand side of the piece, but the wine bottle on the right hand side is almost completely obscured by shadow.
This kind of artwork can also be a good way to introduce more modern artists and their work to people who are less familiar with art created since 1900. In addition to being a prime example of the Cubist style, Pablo Picasso’s “Guernica” is also a scathing commentary on the horrors of war.
