Butterfly wall art and prints
Colorful wings. Small bodies. Long curled antennae. Those are butterflies. They are the most welcome residents of our gardens, drinking our flowers' nectar. These delightful creatures land on our clothes with utmost softness, so soft we barely notice when there is a butterfly on us before it flies away. Entranced by their beauty, artists have enjoyed painting these insects for centuries in framed butterfly art.
One such example of a framed painting of a butterfly is a fantasy artwork called Golden Butterfly by Mary Baxter St. Clair. Inside of a pink carnation is a little fairy girl, who is gazing at a butterfly in golden light. There is a feeling of wonderment, of a child's innocence, as the fairy looks upon the butterfly very amazed.
A more adult, serious framed butterfly artwork is Ivies and Ferns IV by Lisa Audit. It is very simple: A green-and-black jungle butterfly is against a background of a sketch of an ivy plant. One can guess that the ivy plant must be its main source of food. It is more serious than Golden Butterfly because it depicts a butterfly in a scientific, analytical setting. It is enough to get the inner scientist working.
Butterflies by Catherine Gold is one of our favorite framed of butterfly pictures. It features a clear blue sky and nice weather above. Below is a series of nicely curved plants reaching towards the sky. On top of those plants are butterflies in their natural habitat. Two have landed and are feeding on one of the darkly colored flowers. Another is flying, looking for a place to feed. It is a very familiar scene, like what one would see in their backyard. If your decor runs to the cool side, be sure to check out Mindy Sommers' Languid Journeys Blue. It's a romantic butterfly painting, with a delightful pair of purple and aqua blue butterflies.
