Framed Retro Modern Wall Art
There are many famous works of modern art throughout the 20th and 21st century, and nearly all of them have come into the public knowledge to varying degrees of familiarity. But even when it is not recognizable, framed retro modern art is no less appealing. The bold colors, pop culture imagery, and retro aesthetic of these pieces make them wildly popular for home decor and gallery curation alike.
Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein was very popular in the mid – 20th century, particularly during the 1950s and 1960s. His signature style of bold lines, halftone coloring, and dramatic renderings of people in emotional situations reflected heavily on the comic book illustration style of the day and reminds many people even now of that style for the same reason. His works like “Kiss V, 1964” and “Drowning Girl” are widely available as framed retro modern art.
Rex Ray is a more recent contemporary artist born in the 1950s whose works are far less realistic and much more reliant on colorful, abstract patterns that draw from geometrical shapes and fractal patterns. “Macilenta” and “Bauble” are both among his framed retro modern art prints that feature bright colors and almost hypnotic asymmetry.
Another very famous artist in the style of Modernism was the Russian – born American painter Mark Rothko, whose framed retro modern art available today include his masterpieces such as “Number 3, 1967,” “Untitled, 1949,” and “Blue, Green, and Brown.” As might be expected from the titles, these pieces largely feature color blocking and indistinct shapes without real delineation.
