Framed French Revolution Art
For exactly one decade, the French Revolution caused a tidal wave of social and political changes, and triggered the decline of absolute monarchies all over the world. It started in 1789 and by the time it was over in 1799, it made a huge impact not only in Europe but all over the world.
FramedArt.com fondly remembers the most important moments of that decade in framed French Revolution posters, which make it easy to understand those years and what they meant to France and Europe.
Economical issues and the increasingly tight grip of the French monarchy led to the revolution and the demands for change were made in 1789. The privileges of the old regime were abolished and in the wake of the revolution, internal struggles involved right-wing assemblies and liberals. Framed French Revolution posters are also highlighting the moment the Republic was proclaimed in 1792, which eventually resulted in the condemnation and execution of Louis XVI in 1793.
The Reign of Terror lasted for one year and thousands of civilians were killed over those 12 months, until order was restored and the Directory was created. Napoleon Bonaparte took over soon after and the First Empire began its conquest of Europe and the most important battles are also featured in framed French Revolution posters. The Napoleonic Wars involve most of the European countries, but meanwhile, the French society underwent major changes and most of the aristocratic privileges were abolished.
