Civil War Framed Art
From 1861 to 1865, the American Civil War divided the nation and in the end resulted in the restoration of the Union. A total of 11 states declared independence and formed the Confederate states of America, while the rest of the states remained in the Union and didn’t recognize the new self-declared country.
Framed Civil War posters available at FramedArt.com bring those years back in the spotlight and focus on the major battles as well as the key decisions that followed.
More than 600,000 soldiers died over the course of the American Civil War and much of the southern states’ infrastructure was destroyed. Despite the catastrophic results of the struggle, there were plenty of positive effects and by far the most important one was the abolition of slavery. Framed Civil War posters depict both the bloody years and the ones that followed and are commonly referred to as the Reconstruction period. Natural unity was eventually restored and all the slaves were guaranteed freedom and eventually given full civil rights.
Abraham Lincoln was the one to oppose the expansion of slavery and his unswerving determination to abolish it all together led to the Civil War. The southern states were hoping for European nations to intervene in an attempt of securing a steady flow of cotton, but they misjudged the situation and found themselves alone against the North. The framed Civil War posters feature some of the most important confrontations, such as the Battle of Antietam, the battle of Gettysburg or the siege of Vicksburg.
