Framed Golf Ball Artwork
Golf is one of the sports that score high marks in terms of flexibility, as it can be played by different rules and on various surfaces. The only constant is that certain golf balls are being used, with the rules imposing certain limitations in regard to the diameter, size and weight.
They are an essential part of the sport and that’s why FramedArt.com has assembled an entire collection of framed golf ball prints, featuring these tiny objects used by golfers.
Back in the day, the golf ball was actually made of wood and players used it for hundreds of years until the beginning of the 19th century. A gentleman’s top hat was used to measure the volume of the feathers that were also used in the manufacturing of golf balls. They came a long way and those who check out the framed golf ball prints will discover that they look nothing like the predecessors. Nowadays they are all about precision and there are certain regulatory bodies that make sure they are produced according to specifications.
Robert Adams Patterson is frequently cited as the father of the modern golf ball, who used juice extracted from a Malaysian tree to produce the new ball.
Many decades later, Coburn Haskell came up with a new concept and his innovative product hit the shelves at the turn of the 20th century. There are also framed golf balls prints dedicated to what eventually became the modern golf ball, currently manufactured by Spalding who bought the patent in 1967.
