Framed Tangerine Wall Art
People have always been attracted by exotic things and those that are not easily within reach. We nowadays take tropical fruits for granted but centuries ago they were considered a delicacy and even served as a source of inspiration for artists.
The framed tangerine prints up for sale at FramedArt.com are a testament of how people looked at these fruits, but also the magnetic attraction of their color.
Called simply “yellow-red” in the absence of a better term, orange came to be the source of inspiration for the most important artistic movement of the 19th century. Impressionism started with Claude Monet’s Impression Sunrise and gained constant traction, thanks to Leighton and Klimt. Most farmed tangerine prints celebrate the richness of autumn and some of the artwork is even titled accordingly. There is of course artwork that actually depicts tangerines, in a basket or about to be served on a plate or in cocktails.
William Vanderdasson’s Autumn Bounty highlights the abundance of harvest, while Tim Howe’s Reflection of Autumn is all about the natural beauty. Equally impressive is The Splendor of Autumn, which depicts trees that seem to have caught fire, with orange being overwhelming. Modern art can take a more direct form and the farmed tangerine posters sometimes include a message that is either amusing or inspirational. The background is not that important, but the soothing effect of orange helps the viewer focus at the underlying message.
