Duncan Wilson Art

Duncan Wilson (Born in 1959) likes to work with unique subject matter but with a sense of humor. For example, he has an ongoing project, Pixie Tuesday, which is intended as a modern guide for those seeking out the magical folk. The project also looks at how they have brought elements the modern world into their own culture and how they adapted to it. His 1960s childhood experiences remain a strong influence on his art. The Thunderbirds, spacemen and Beatles, running around being 6 years old were replaced by power cuts, puberty and secondary school. The early 1970s were a bit of a disappointment to him, but art school considerably brightened things up. He spent a year at Lincoln College of Art then proceeded to Saint Martin`s School of Art, London for a Graphic Design and Illustration course. His move south to a “New Wave”, post-punk London marked his fresh start and a sense of purpose. The early 1980s saw the artist illustrating on a freelance basis for many magazines. His employment as a graphic designer coincided with the introduction of computer graphics, and he was able to incorporate and develop new approaches as techniques developed. Today, framed Duncan Wilson art are ranked among the best in the world. The time he spends in front of a computer screen allows him to come up with an individual approach to painting which make his art to be unique. In part reaction to and a celebration of printed and digital images, his paintings usually incorporate ideas, accidents and elements derived from his past graphic design works.
