Sally Wetherby Art

Sally Wetherby was born in Berwyn, Illinois. She earned her undergraduate degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin after which she went on to pursue graduate work at Sonoma State University and California State University Long Beach. After traveling extensively in the United States, Mexico and Europe, she returned to her California studio where she began to combine photography with painting. She has developed this technique over the years and finally it evolved into the unique style recognizable in her work today. She enjoys exploring flea markets in search of interesting props to combine with flowers grown in her garden in her scenes. Concentrating on still life imagery, she employs photography and painting in her creative process. Using transparent glazes, layers of oil paint, wax and lacquer on wood panel the artist achieves a beautifully crafted, highly finished work of art. Sally’s work has earned numerous awards and is widely exhibited. Her paintings - mainly presented as framed Sally Wetherby art - are included in many corporate, private and museum collections. Sally enjoys what she does and says she can not leave it for anything else. Her passion for art is clearly reflected in the quality of her work. She’s not an ordinary artist. Her art usually appeal to the soul of the viewers making them feel as if they are a part of the work. She’s been a great source of inspiration to many upcoming artists.
