Tandi Venter is a native of South Africa. She studied graphic design at the Johannesburg Art Foundation. Her art is inspired by Charley Harper’s Modernist "minimal realism." The elements in her paintings are reduced to their simplest forms. She searches for the essence, more than the likeness of an object, to evoke something deeper. Tandi loves the mid-century modern design which she says inspires playful, yet sophisticated, pieces that compliment contemporary spaces. She describes her style as Serene and ordered; clean and minimal. She displays a strong understanding of geometric structure and the elements of art. A self-taught painter, the expressionism of her art takes its inspiration from landscape and nature, the abstract and the commonplace. The horizontal plains and Broad vistas of the art in her Retroscapes offer an atmosphere of balance and stillness, while her Pebblestacks exhibit an astonishing sense of solidity through their uncertain placement. The tranquility of her uncluttered canvas together with the liveliness of her palette presents something spiritual. She shows diversity in her art, from wildlife to landscapes, realism to abstract, each expressing its own unique style. Tandi is inspired by the rhythms and colors of her native South Africa; she brings an eclectic contemporary vision to her work by exploring the depths of creative expression. The framed Tandi Venter art are highly priced by many discriminating collectors. She continues to explore different mediums, from watercolors to acrylics to the digital medium of computer fine art, from sculpture to photography, to creating handcrafted jewelry and beaded silverware.
