Mary Urban is a Mixed Media artist based in Vermont. She works in a variety of media and styles, from classic to illustrative, and more. Mary works outside because she likes to be surrounded by nature, and she says that’s where the subject matter comes naturally. The artist can often be found sitting or standing under a giant maple tree working on her next collection. Mary loves art and is very grateful to all the people who helped her make a decision to become an artist. She grew up in the Vermont countryside, where her talent was noticed and she was encouraged by teachers and family to be an artist. She moved to Boston at the age of18, and studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art. Being away from home made her feel nostalgic and the attraction of her peaceful country home was too much. Mary therefore decided to return home where she opened an organic coffee and tea house with the help of her brother. The encouragements she got from friends and family kept the artistic fire burning in her heart and the cafe, tea and coffee culture had always been a great passion to her because it tended to bring communities and her fellow artists together for conversations and the discovery of bold ideas. When she is not creating, Mary can be found immersed in her pile of art history books reading. She loves to almost more than saturate herself with the inspiration from the books. Then she closes all the books and works on her own images. Framed Mary Urban art are highly priced by many collectors.
