Cindy Thornton (Born 1975) currently resides in Orlando, Florida. She is a contemporary illustrative painter with a vibrant and whimsical style that often incorporates clean lines, bold colors and touches of surrealism. Cindy’s dynamic paintings are infused with intuitive sense of creative energy, color, and an innate understanding of composition. She is not afraid to paint. Her work has a deceptively simple style which develops into a more demanding and complex sense of authenticity. They stretch beyond the straight forward and beyond the boundaries of visual perception. Most of her paintings have unique and hidden meanings that challenge the imagination of her viewers, but a common theme found throughout her work is love. Her paintings capture the essence of herself and all that she has observed in the world. Cindy paints what she feels and displays her feelings on board or on the canvas in the form of uncalculated marks, and games of negative and positive space. She believes that each piece of her works is important as they individually contribute their own distinct personality. Cindy concentrates on her technique to obtain the best prints. Much of her work conveys a sense of childlike innocence and simplicity. Her sources of inspiration include her three young children, her interest in science, her love of nostalgic music, and her appreciation of nature.
