Steve Thoms Art

Steve Thoms (born1960) is a British artist from Blackburn, Lancashire. He consistently does his work in oil on canvas. Right from his early days, Thoms always had a drive and a deep ambition of becoming a successful artist. By 1981, Thoms was already an accomplished fine artist and a cartoonist, and in the same year he started painting seriously. In 1992, he dropped other commitments and became a full time artist and trainer. He is a highly traveled artist; even though Thom’s principal medium is oil on canvas, he has lectured and made live demonstrations of the practical application of oil and acrylics painting techniques to various art societies all through the North of England. His emotive style of rendering lively art is heavily influenced by Edward Hopper and other renowned American impressionists who mastered the subtle technique of presenting deep shadow in the backdrop of bright sunlight to attain stunning vitality for their works of art. As an artist of natural calling and distinctive skills, Thoms has crafted and perfected his own unique style of employing relatively simple concepts and scenes to bring out stunning oil paintings that capture the true spirit and mood of the setting. He held numerous art exhibitions throughout the US and the UK, where he has enjoyed several recognized commissions and published limited editions of prints artwork.
