Steve Thomas is a freelance graphic artist and an illustrator. Before he became a freelancer he worked for newspapers for 14 years creating illustrations and graphics. He did work for every section of the paper from Sports to Life and Entertainment. Today, Thomas tries to come up with new and interesting ideas for illustrations. His interest in retro-futuristic art from the mid-20th and love for propaganda, vintage poster and product art from the early 20th century has led him to create some cool poster art. He believes that everyone wants to join the fight against the villains of 1980s arcade games or travel the solar system, and that’s what inspires his.
Thomas also has experience in creating marketing and advertising art for various companies - from architecture firms to label expo organizers. And he has had the opportunity to create artwork under such licenses as Fox, Star Trek, Star Wars, Hasbro, Disney, The Muppets and Marvel. Thomas is an artist with a vibrant and whimsical style that often incorporates bold colors, clean lines, and a touch of surrealism. His work has a deceptively simple style which develops into a more demanding and complex sense of authenticity. Most of his illustrations have unique and hidden meanings that challenge the imagination of his viewers, but a common theme found throughout his work is love. His artwork stretches beyond the straight forward and beyond the boundaries of visual perception. He expresses his central theme of love in thought-provoking, subtle dreamscapes that are frequently embellished with touches of humor and quirkiness. Thomas believes that each piece of his works is important as they individually contribute their own distinct personality.
