Teo Tarras was born in 1960 in Barcelona. He liked arts from an early age and his mother provided his earliest artistic influence – his mother was a painter. From that early age, he felt the need to express himself through painting, illustration, and photography which he liked most. He joined the Escuela de Bellas Artes y Oficios Artísticos where he specialized in Publicity and Graphic Design. He later proceeded to the University of Barcelona where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and also received a degree from Escuela Massana y La Llotja de Barcelona. Teo Tarras has several years of experience in design, illustration, and photography and has worked for many editors and publicity agencies over the years.
Teo Tarras likes to photograph in black-and-white as he believes this is the poetic part of photography. Tarras feels a strong need to experience photography as a means of expression. He has always loved art in all of its forms and expressions, and he experimented with many different techniques and forms until he finally found his own way with photography. He is inspired by the movement and the people within his urban surroundings. Teo Tarras’ works appear in a permanent exhibition in the Liceo Opera House in Barcelona. He has exhibited his work in Palau Rogent in Barcelona. Canvas, laminated, and framed Teo Tarras can be found in galleries across the globe.
At the moment, his illustrations are more commercial like licences of art for companies including Josman, Air-Val, Enri, Echo, Flamagas, Panther Scandecor France, Dunoon Mugs, Grupo Erik, Juan Ferrer Prat, and Tèxtil Tarragó, among others.
