Richard Silver (Born in 1961) is an American photographer known for his photographs of cities, monuments and landscapes found allover the world. He uses a photographic technique known as Tilt-Shift which miniaturizes the objects he captures on film, allowing him to make monumental buildings or vast landscapes appear small. Tilt-Shift is a technique that has taken off over the last few years in the fields of advertising and photography. It gives the impression of looking at a miniature or a model while the viewer is actually looking at a real and full-size subject. The clarity and the playful use of soft focus create an optical illusion and alter its interpretation. The soft focus affects the background and the foreground and the tremendously reduced tilt-shift‘s depth resembles those found in macro-photography. Silver has traveled the world to see the most recognizable iconic sights; therefore his style of photography enhances the perspective of the viewers to look at the world in a whole new way. Silver also utilizes other digital photographic techniques such as time slice, HDR, and vertical panoramas to alter the images that he captures. Some of his corporate clients include Tiffany and Co., UN Aids Organization, TimeOut New York, UNITED Airlines, AT&T, IKEA, Macy's, Capital One, Bank of America, ABC Carpet & Home, and CB Richard Ellis. All these clients highly value framed Richard Silver art. Silver’s work has been exhibited in both galleries and museums, including AGallery, in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, the Krause Gallery, in New York, VERVE Art Fair, in Brooklyn, NY., and The Skyscraper Museum, in New York.
