David Short Art

Artist David Short (Born 1940) was born in the city of Nottingham. At an early age, he was always working on art pieces. Short spent his childhood surrounded by many art-loving people who noticed his talent and encouraged him to pursue his interest in art. He later joined the Nottingham School of Art to study art. For many years, Short painted as an amateur and he spent a great amount of time in Cornwall and Devon studying in-shore and sea boat. The in-shore and sea boat became the center of his interest and formed the subject of most of his paintings. They became a big part of his art, posters, and prints. As his art interest grew, Short began to study the works of the 19th century artists including Henry Redmore. To support his art work, Short worked as a trader, dealing in Nottingham lace. His drawings, paintings and prints were inspired by the sea. He had a special psychological attachment with the sea and his work in this subject is where his reputation was initially built around. However, Short is not confining himself to the sea. He is dealing with other types of sceneries as well. He now paints landscapes, scenes of Tuscany, beach scenes, and many more. By varying his subject matter, be believes that he will increase the marketability of his art work as they will always remain fresh and attractive. Short’s work has been published as fine art prints, greeting cards, and as posters. His paintings are now much sort after by many private collectors and galleries throughout the world.
