Dlynn Roll has been fascinated with what birds are thinking. This started while she was sitting in traffic with her now over 20-year old son when he was still a child. To occupy the young boy’s active mind they would often make up stories about how birds might interact with them and mused at what their conversations between each other could be like. This went on and one and these stories became the inspiration for her fun series of paintings she dabbed “Egg Belly Birds.” The paintings still hung in her son’s room and have been there for years. More than 20 years later, having added another son, plus the additional school activities, her art took an abstract direction. She also suffered two bouts of cancer forcing her to have a lifesaving bone marrow transplant. This harsh experience made her to decide that she wanted to express her gratitude for life by making people smile and sharing positive energy. That’s how “You Silly Bird” was born. This is a complicated rebirth of her original relationship with birds. Each painting in “You Silly Bird” represents someone that has touched her life in some way and her hope was to be able to illustrate the qualities and characteristics that make each person dear to her. She hopes that viewers enjoy her flock of friends and family and will watch it grow. She has been able to accept the destiny of the creative process, producing several framed Dlynn Roll art that today adorn the walls of many prominent people.
