Rob Tilley first became interested in photography over 3 decades ago. He was a photographer for their college yearbook and spent many long hours in the darkroom developing black-and-white prints. However, upon graduating, he decided to be practical and so he pursued a career in financial services. While he didn’t completely give up his photography, he was only able to photograph once in awhile for many years. As years went by, he found himself devoting more and more time to his photography. And in the end, after working in financial services for over 20 years he decided to bow out in 2002 to follow his passion and work full-time on his photography business. Since then he has never regretted this decision and even wishes he had made it even earlier. Tilley first visited Japan when he was in junior high school. He became really intrigued with the Japanese culture, and in college he decided to take some courses about Japan and he ended up majoring in East Asian Studies. Things moved so fast and Tilley ended up living in Japan on and off for a total of about 20 years. While in Japan he developed a love for Japanese aesthetics and he became a firm believer that "less is more." Even now when he’s shooting nature, his experience in Japan shapes his images. Framed Rob Tilley art has become very popular with many purchasers. After living in Tokyo for all these years, he moved to Washington State with his wife in 2002.
