Courtney Prahl believes that art should be attainable to all. She loved art since childhood. This made her to study art at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and at Marymount University. She currently contributes art to local charities and teaches art to children at the local shelter. She can be found working from her home studio in Maryland where the walls are covered with her own children's art. Courtney resides in Urbana, Maryland, with her husband and two sons. Courtney has beautiful collection of her artwork. Her focus is always on houses and trees, both which have special meaning to her. To her, houses are symbolic of home – a place, a house or even a mountain – anything that gives a person peace to know who they are without judgment. Trees on the other hand are symbolic of people, one-of-a-kind and unique with their own story to tell.
Nature inspires her a lot and color plays a big role in her work. She loves the juxtaposition of old and new materials and always incorporates vintage paper. Courtney is always looking for the beauty in things that many people overlook, and ones that are simple. That’s what describes her style. Her love of making things has always been part of her life. Making to do with what nature provides has always been her way of life. All her art works display a delicacy of touch, and a wonderful understanding of color. Those who collect ready to mount and framed Courtney Prahl art often do so because of the quality and uniqueness of her work.
