Glenys Porter has been drawing since she was two years old. Her earliest memories involve drawing. She painted her first oil painting when she was twelve years old. She started with realism. But about ten or so years ago, she decided to pursue abstract ideas. Since then she’s worked on several different series, including the Reclamation and Sticks & Stones series. Both these series have been exhibited at galleries. Her art has been published and can be found at numerous poster and print sites. She’s been commissioned to create paintings for corporate installations such as Jackson Life Insurance, MGM Grand Hotel, Time Warner and many others. She recently began a blog a bout her, her art and her creative process. She made a switch from a career in illustration and graphic design to that of fine art and this seemed to be a natural evolution of her experience and talent. She started selling these new works through select juried online venues. After some time, her art was discovered by The Guild.com and in 2003, she was invited to participate in their annual sourcebook of residential fine art. This added to her exposure and made other opportunities to avail themselves to her. She managed to have two gallery exhibits at Remmi Fine Art Gallery in Denver. She also had a number of her pieces exhibited and sold by Bryce Gallery in New Zealand. Today, framed Glenys Porter art are used to decorate many walls worldwide. Glenys has always been fascinated by the unexpected juxtaposition of colors and textures provided by nature. She finds beauty in the most unlikely places – water stained cement, oxidized metal, old doors, rusting nails, etc.
