Marvin Pelkey Art

Born and raised in British Columbia along the central coast, Marvin Pelkey spent countless hours exploring the natural world. He’s a self-taught artist who learned and honed his skills in traditional film photography. At the beginning of his career, he started out by capturing images of wildlife eventually transitioned and settled on landscapes. He later on decided to move to the Greater Vancouver area, where he continued to be drawn to those places still unexplored by man. Landscape photography has brought to him a sense of solitude, peace and quiet that other types of photography did not seem to offer. He has also transitioned into the digital realm and he now captures and prepares his images with digital tools. Pelkey embraced the art of photography as an outwardly natural way to take some of that wilderness with him each time he returned home. As an added advantage, the digital tools allow him to produce high quality images in a very short time. Pelkey has been interested in the visual arts since his childhood. He began photography as a hobby and with time he discovered that he could make a career out of it, and he has continued to develop his style over the years in that medium. Pelkey loves photography and says while he’s at it he feels like he’s in his own little world - a world where nothing else matters. He has been much encouraged by the feedback he gets from those who view his art, especially the framed Marvin Pelkey art.
