Paul Souders (Born in 1961) is an independent wildlife photographer who was born in Carlisle, PA. He has traveled widely around the globe and taken award-winning photographs of animals. His grandmother inspired him to become a wildlife photographer. Within the previous 30 years he’s maintained 26 different addresses but his current residence is in Washington. Souders studied 3 majors at the University of Maryland and since his graduation he has worked a variety of jobs over the years, including bartending, cooking and landscaping. His professional photography career began more than 3 decades ago when he began working as a news shooter at a small daily paper in Maryland. Needing a change of scenery, Souders decided to move to Alaska and fell in love with the nature environment. He got employed by the biggest newspaper in the state but he shortly left the paper and started working on his own as wildlife and travel photographer. His travels have taken him to several different places, including in Alaska, Africa, Antarctica, Australia, and Asia. Once it took him 27 hours in Kenya digging out his safari truck that was stuck using only a sauce pan. In 2013 he won two awards: the National Geographic Photography Contest and the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year photo contest. His photographic work is stored in the stock archives of Getty Images and Corbis and he’s represented by Danita Delimont. Framed Paul Souders art are very common in many galleries around the world. They are very popular because they come ready to hang with all he accessories.
