Joel Ogard Art

Joel Ogard (Born 1959) was born in Seattle, Washington. Most of his work has been in the watercolor medium. But he’s open to working in other mediums. The other mediums of interest to him include oil painting and drawing. He was born in an artistic family. His father and mother had a keen interest in art and even sketched and painted together while dating. During Ogard’s early childhood he saw his father oil painting as a leisure activity. He’s drawn to the traditional artistic model of art as an expression of the beautiful and the sublime - preferring to create pieces of art that elicit and convey positive emotions and thoughts. His range of subject matter includes farm scenes, landscapes, home and garden, nature, still-lives, children, floral, portraits and figures. Ogard began watercolor painting in earnest as a fresher in high school, and began selling and showing his paintings. In college he majored in fine art and minored in philosophy. He was honored with his 1st solo exhibit at the university art gallery and graduated in the spring of 1981 from Pacific Lutheran University. He has shown his work in several other galleries including Gallery Americana, the Attic and Lawrence galleries in Oregon, New Masters galleries in Carmel, California, California, Galleria Prova, Tokyo, Japan, and Waterhouse Gallery, Santa Barbara. His work has been published in many formats including jig saw puzzles, calendars posters and greeting cards. His art can be found in numerous collections including Nordstrom’s, Westin Hotels, the University of Oregon and Sears. Framed Joel Ogard art are very popular with collectors.
