Silvia Mei Art

Silvia Mei (Born 1985) was born in Cagliari. She’s an Italian painter who combines different styles and techniques but focuses on the theme of nature in all her works. She’s known for her large scale paintings in which she shows figures that look like human beings placed in a natural setting. Fears and thoughts, feelings and anxieties, as well as the other elements of possible worlds, all go into her art to recreate a pictorial reality in her works. Silvia is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari. She graduated in 2009 after which she moved to Milan where she attend the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in painting in 2012. The space in which her figures are immersed is the representation of a world that is beyond reality. This is because they represent a return to a primitive conditions and mythical nature bringing to the surface the appearance of deformed, brutal animals, but at the same time it reflects a harmony of nature conscious of its imperfections. Her works highlight our true essence and nature - those are portraits of artist’s friends and family and self-portraits.
