Jill Martin Art

American fine art artist Jill Martin’s work was influenced by Goya, an artist who looked for a deeper sense of beauty below the surface of things. Goya said his aesthetic had a “terrible beauty.” Her work is also influenced by contemporary artists Julie Heffernan and Gregory Gillespie, both of whom looked beyond appearances. Additionally, on to this subtext, the artist takes pleasure in the texture and color layering of a piece. Jill studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson from where she received her M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing. She graduated in 2000 after which she embarked on artwork on a serious note. She has been in many international and national art shows, both invitational and juried. Her painting has also been informed by her travels in Europe. Jill was originally from the East Coast, but she has also lived in Los Angeles, British Columbia, and is currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona where she works as a freelance artist. She’s known for her paintings of seascapes, landscapes, and abstract artwork. Jill taught art in different schools in Arizona before she started creating her own artwork as an independent artist. She has produced some of the best artists in the world and continues to inspire many upcoming artists. Many art collectors like to stock framed Jill Martin art because their demand is high. The artist uses different media for her works, but mainly prefers to work with watercolors and pen and ink. She continues working as a freelance artist, and creates art for different clients and she also makes her own artistic creations for sale.
