Karen Margulis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in art education from Florida Atlantic University. She’s had work juried into international and regional shows receiving positive reviews and awards. Today, she is an award-winning pastel artist who shares techniques and ideas to help other pastel artists achieve more exciting and expressive paintings. According to her, these artists are either moving away from or toward abstraction. And no matter where an artist falls in his or her journey, he or she can benefit from Karen’s ideas to help them create more expressive art. She’s always striving to interpret her subject by including her own personal touch rather than a replicating the reference. She’s very Karen is passionate about plein air painting in the Impressionistic style. Her medium of choice is pastel and her subjects are mainly landscapes. She lives in Marietta, Georgia, a region that has greatly influenced her art over the years. In her presentations and demos she shares some of the ways she’s discovered that help her paint in a more expressive manner. It wasn’t until 2005 that Karen began painting seriously. Currently, she’s a productive daily painter and has a blog where she posts on daily basis. In the course of her work, she estimates that she has completed more than a mile of paper. Framed Karen Margulis art are a common feature in many homes and institutions. The artist traveled extensively with her family throughout Caribbean and the United States.
