Franz Marc (Born 1880) was born in Munich, Germany. He was greatly influenced by his father, starting at an early age, as he worked as a landscape painter. In 1900, at the age of 20, he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, which was located in Munich. Here he was taught by several influential teachers at the time. Marc was not only one of the key figures of the Expressionist movement in Germany but also had an influence on art during his time. He co-founded The Blue Rider, a magazine publication series which focused on the movement. The magazine was well known to be connected to a small group of artists who were in charge of breaking stories as well as posting images during the time that the magazine was in existence in Germany.
In the years 1903 and 1907, Marc traveled to France and spent most of his time in Paris. He visited many of the local museums and also got the opportunity to meet many of the artists in the area. He also got involved with the local artists and this allowed him to gain more experience, and to learn from their influences. Marc took much influence from Parisian art, and the artists which were most noted in the area. Marc copied the style which was used in the art forms that he viewed. This was a way for him to learn the different techniques, and to come up with his own style in creation. Framed Franz Marc art can be found in many art galleries and museums throughout the world.
