Jeff Maihara Art

Jeff Maihara was born in North Vancouver. He is of Scottish and Japanese descent. Like many artists, Maihara’s interest in art was noticed at an early age. He grew up amidst the mountains and ocean, deriving inspiration from nature. He was and still is a keen observer and is always keen to detail. His true love is travel photography. Maihara’s mixed heritage has helped shape the way he approaches his subject matter and his unique viewpoint. His favorite places to take photographs include Australia, Peru, Japan, and Cambodia. His goal is has always been to try and evoke the adventure and romance of the places he visits, forever capturing a moment in time. He loves to immerse himself in other cultures to gain more experience. Maihara studied graphic design at Capilano College and Vancouver Community College. He has been working in the fine arts field for more than fifteen years. Currently, Maihara creates images using digital media and has been experimenting with photography for the past few years. Maihara has been consumed with taking photographs that evoke viewer’s emotions and seduced by the beauty of color. His works seem to develop their own life and provide direction to him. They are now much sought after by many private collectors and galleries throughout the world. His work has been published as greeting cards, and as posters.
