Jane Maday (Born in 1965) was born in England and raised in the U.S. She describes her art as idealized realism, and says it isn’t exactly realistic but she tries to make sure her birds, animals and flowers and fairly accurate. She adds that it is an idealized world – the weather in always goods, the animals all live together happily and the garden is always in bloom. This "idealized realism" is perfectly depicted in her works titled “Birds Garden Flag” and “Basket of Holly.” Another work titled “Flights of Fancy fabric” clearly shows her talent for artistic detail - combining a lovely theme and pretty colors that is pleasing to the eye. She began her career as a scientific illustrator for the University of Florida when she was just 14 years old. She later obtained a degree from Ringling College of Art and Design after which she was recruited as a greeting card illustrator by Hallmark Cards, Inc. her scientific background helped her add realism to her work. Coming from a family of engineers, she was always considered a bit of a “mutant.” In fact none in her family knew where her artistic desire and talent came from. But Jane thinks she gets her love of craft and hand working from her mother. She’s just really touched when someone wants to buy a product with her art on it and have it in their home. Jane shares part of herself in every painting she does, and the fact that someone might respond to it is very humbling. Many have purchased framed Jane Maday art which today hang on their walls. She paints everything in watercolor or acrylic by hand.
