Theresa Kasun (Born 1965) loved art from a tender age. In fact she won her first art contest in kindergarten. The Arts and creativity were a part of the Kasun family while Theresa was growing up. Her mother is also a gifted artist. Theresa studied Painting and Design at the Kansas City Art Institute. The Impressionistic style that she exhibits came from Prof. Wilber Niewald, the well known painting Professor. The professor taught them every aspect of Impressionism. Why they painted, what color palettes they used, and how they painted. Theresa graduated with a BFA in 1988. Upon graduating, she moved to Chicago where she worked at Luna Productions as an assistant art director. After some time she realized that this job was not giving her the satisfaction she desired, so she took up another job of creating window designs and dressing mannequins at the Jones Store. A year later, she joined the New York Academy of Art for her Masters program. She was awarded an MFA in May of 1992. She majored in Figurative Painting and this is what has given her art its characteristic classical accent. In the course of her work, she sharpened her skills as a painter and found a passion for painting still lives. In 1996 she got interested in art licensing after reading an article about it in The Artists Magazine. She began visiting trade shows, reading any industry publications she could find, and talking to whoever could answer her questions. In 2000, she managed to sign her first licensing contract. She produces art mainly as framed Theresa Kasun art, though other finishing options are also available.
