Jai Johnson is a photographic artist based in Tennessee. She has a desire to bring the casual observer to a point of personal focus with her subjects which include beautiful birds, pets, wild animals, fresh flowers, serene scenes, special objects, and many more. She hopes the observers will forget they are looking at a photograph, and instead feel to be part of the picture and see a different perspective, one that mixes photographic realism and painterly qualities. It is her goal with her images to help the viewer establish a more personal relationship with the subject by making important what the normal eye may overlook. Her painted and edited photographs are a world away from the original image which emerges from the camera. She adds rich and luminous textured backgrounds to them to give them a timeless feeling. She uses many layers to give the subject depth and interest. Jai also plays with tones and light so the subject is illuminated. Jai wishes that her images would move beyond the realm of general photography and become a unique style of art.
