Lisa Hilliker learned to appreciate the abundant wildlife and natural beauty that New England state has to offer. She has grown up and lived in rural Vermont for most of her life. Those who are fans of her work can clearly see where she draws her inspiration. She began creating art as a child and was influenced by her mother and her grandmother. Both of them were very artistic, becoming her earliest mentors/teachers. Her grandmother was an eighth grade art teacher. Lisa sold her first piece of art at age 14 and was determined to accomplish her goals at an early age. In her painting process, she begins by selecting the right piece of barn board for a project, sands it to give it a base coat of paint, the she begins to paint the image. She works primarily in acrylics, and finishes with and antiquing process and finally applies a protective coat of varnish. She keeps everything simple and is always with her favorite cat, her muse by her side as she paints. All of her animals have proved good models over the years. Lisa is always on the lookout for different methods of creating and presenting images so that the final products are truly unique. Her works can be found in several institutions and in many private and corporate collections all over the world. Because of the high demand for her work, several galleries stock his ready to mount framed Lisa Hilliker art while others avail them in a variety of other finishing options.
