Lowell Herrero was born in 1921 in California. He worked as a designer and illustrator before devoting himself to his art on full-time basis. Herrero enjoyed art as a child and wanted to create pieces that added unique elements to realistic settings. He’s known for combining the usual elements with classic landscapes. Herrero is one of the most prolific Modern Abstract artists. After graduating from high school, he attended the California College of Arts and Crafts before he found work as an artist in an advertising firm. In the 1950s, he decided to leave the job to start his own firm. Herrero did work commissioned by companies such as Bank of America and Chevrolet for more than 20 years. In the 1970s, he closed his firm and shifted from illustration to fine art, but he continued using bold colors and simple designs that his fans enjoyed. He had his first solo exhibit in 1983. Herrero began creating a series of images using cats. These images can be found in calendars and on other types of merchandising. He then formed a relationship with Bill Dodge through which his work was sold for 10 years. Herrero later formed a partnership with Franklin Mint which allowed him to show most of his pieces to the public. By the mid-1960s, he had firmly established himself as a popular artist with a number of sold-out shows. He incorporates animals and humans into his paintings. His current work usually features almost humorous and rounded images of people. Several reputable galleries and art outlets sell framed Lowell Herrero art that are ready for use in different settings whether for home or office interiors.
