Jorge R. Gutierrez (Born in 1975) was raised in Tijuana but was born in Mexico City. He has completed various paintings, cartoons, illustrations and films exploring his love of pop and folk culture of Mexico. He’s a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts), where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Master of Fine Arts degree in Experimental Animation. Several magazines and art books have both discussed and published his work. His works have been exhibited exclusively in Mexico and the United States. He’s an animator, writer & director, painter, who created the multiple Annie and Emmy Award-winning animated television series for Nickelodeon. Gutierrez has designed many characters, along with his wife Equihua Sandra. In 2014, Gutierrez earned his 1st Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. His pieces of art have been shown internationally and have received numerous awards, and are in many corporate and private collections nationally. While at the university, he created the three dimensional short Carmelo, which enabled him to win the Student Emmy Award in animation in 2001 and was screened at many festivals around the world. In 2000, he worked under Maurice Noble, an animation legend; and in 2001, Gutierrez began creating El Macho. His artwork expresses his own personality and that of the subjects he depicts. His art have long been favorites of the public and this has enabled him to have a wide network of loyal fans. Framed Jorge R. Gutierrez art, in particular, are very popular.
