Based in Paris, Mathilde Guillemot is a cartographer whose cartographic works makes his clients to be able to visualize the scenes they have not even visited. In his work process, the artist explores and walks through scientific codes to reveal a new sensitivity to the painstaking work of cartography. He’s a young artist who never stops putting his eyes alert to spot what many people cannot notice easily. He has held many art exhibitions one in which he presented many of her works that he’s been producing from the time he began working as an artist. In this exhibition, he featured transparent 2-sided maps, and some very sensitive maps in which the lines he used revealed landscapes so beautifully; the maps invite multidirectional reading. His keenness to detail has made him to earn respect among his fellow cartographers and has earned him a huge following of loyal clients. He’s developed a strong passion for his work within the few years he’s been working on all sorts of geographical maps. His art allow the viewer to imagine possible journeys. He calls her drawing technique a "cartographic code", and when he starts a drawing does not yet know where the line will take him, but he keeps on pushing and drawing. Many institutions buy his art in the form of framed Mathilde Guillemot art for hanging on the walls in their institutions. These framed art come ready to hang with all the necessary accessories. At the boundary between the freedom of the line and scientific design, his maps bring to mind the experience of traveler-cartographers who once set out to conquer territories.
