Dave Gordon has his boards, his paint and his solitude which stimulates him. He felt a strong attraction for the outdoors since his childhood. He was particularly attracted to woodlots, ponds and fields which then existed near his parents’ home. To him painting is a passionate, intimate and private obsession. He feels blessed to have time to create a piece of art that someone else can enjoy. He liked to travel a lot and these trips introduced him to the wonders of nature and created within him a feeling of being at peace in the countryside. Gordon believes that getting out there is the most important part of being an artist. When he’s painting his soul wills itself to transcend. To put form and shape to sunshine, trees and flowers with bristle and liquid color. What motivates him to paint is the preservation of the beauty of nature. He draws his inspiration from Muskoka Lake areas and the Georgian Bay area, and it shows in many of his paintings of water scenes. He accepts commission work to capture his clients’ treasures in watercolor. His studio is open by appointment. It is located at his home in Acton, Ontario. His background landscapes are painted with great attention to detail, and are areas he has personally visited; a single painting may take him quite long to complete.
