Katherine Gendreau Art

Katherine Gendreau was born and raised in Bristol, Rhode Island. She’s a fine art landscape photographer, who specializes in long exposure seascape and abstract photography. For her, the camera is just one tool that she uses in approaching landscape photography. She enjoys taking images that go beyond what people can with the naked eye, so she uses different tools or techniques to create photos that reveal the "unseen" world around. The photos record the accumulation of time in a single image because they are of long exposures, some of which can take upto 8 minutes. She also enjoys creating abstract images which she captures with intentional camera movement. She uses a longer shutter speed and physically moves the camera during the exposure, this results in images that are painterly impressive because it distills a scene to its essential mood and colors. Her work is currently represented by UGallery, and there’s an exclusive selection of her limited edition prints that are available online. Framed Katherine Gendreau art are also available through many outlets. Katherine first became interested in photography in 2006 when she moved to Rhode Island. Here, she was inspired by the stunning coastal scenes which were so different from where she grew up in nearby Massachusetts, and that are so accessible around the state. In her work she tries to convey the same awe and excitement at seeing the beautiful scenes around her as she felt when she first moved to Rhode Island. Her goal has been to create images that inspire others to appreciate and work to protect the landscape in their own ways.
