Until 1998, Gary Luhm worked as an engineer but he never felt the satisfaction he needed in his life. He therefore decided to quit the job to pursue outdoor and nature photography full-time. His articles and photographs have appeared in Outside, Adventure Kayak, Paddler, Wetdawg, Alaska Airlines, National Geographic Traveler, Alaska, Canoe and Kayak, Sierra, the New York Times, National Wildlife, Sea Kayaker, Paddle World, Power & Motoryacht, Mariner Kayaks, Sports Etc, International Yacht Vacations, Muscle & Fitness, Seattle Metropolitan, and in various books and other publications. Nowadays his work is far more detailed, and the framed Gary Luhm art take very long to complete because he wants to make them as attractive as possible. He has always had great sell-through with his products, and has spent a lot of time studying trends so that he can keep his art fresh and relevant so as to effectively satisfy his clients’ needs. Locally, he’s well known and his images are selling steadily. Furthermore, the press is always keen to publish his images. He’s been an expert in creating images from small boats and he has been doing this for several years. Luhm creates imaging solutions to business concepts, drawing from the natural world. Luhm’s artistic ability was discovered at a very young age. He knew that he would become a professional artist and was lucky to receive support from family, friends and teachers. His unique imagery and style stems from his relentless exploration of the water planet by his toolbox, a sea kayak, which acts as is his taxi, and often his camera support.
