Food Wall Art
Everyone loves food in some form or fashion, so framed food artwork is becoming quite popular among the masses. Historians show that food art was even popular among the ancient Greeks and Romans; it was their way of showing what delicacies the rich enjoyed.
Even the ancient Egyptians had paintings of food in the pyramids believing that it would help to nourish the dead in the next life.
There are a number of artists that focus their work on the world of still life and food is their preference. You will find such names as Greg Brown, Ralph Burch, Kim Lewis, and David Carter Brown; each with their own flair for bringing food to life. Framed food art comes in so many categories from fruits and vegetables, to restaurant scenes, to advertisements, to abstract, and other formats as well.
Food art can fit into a wide variety of venues and bring a certain ambience to the room. Coffee shops often have framed food pictures tempting customers to a hot steaming cup of coffee like “Rich Espresso” by Kathy Middlebrook. In an Italian restaurant, you might find the whimsical “Maurice” by Will Rafuse in a fancy black frame.
Even the famous Vincent Van Gogh used his talents in the abstract world of food art when he painted “Red Vineyards at Arles” in 1888. Companies such as Coca Cola have been creating art through advertisement for years and many of their pieces have become collectible through the passing years. Michael Goddard is credited with some great framed food characters that are right at home in any bar.
