DeRice is now retired to the beautiful Sarasota Gulf Coast where he’s constantly inspired by the stunning beauty each day. He says that to produce high quality art, it is best to take small bites of art and spend time on each piece. The artist must imagine the piece of art in its place in his/her home and how it relates to him/her and his/her surroundings. Whether the inspiration comes from a magnificent sunset with a sky so full of color, a bright sunny day that warms both your body and your soul or a comic pelican as he drives mouth-wide for his dinner, DeRice always has something up his sleeves.
