Jane Davies believes that art-making is a journey with only a general road map and very few hand-holds. She grew up in the environment of contemporary art, where art colleges were a part of her everyday life, it’s therefore not a surprise that abstract elements of art like shape, color, texture, line, etc., are the things that excite her visual sensibility. Jane asserts that in the arts industry, each player has to find his or her own way and has a role to play, while at the same time the players must remain open to learning from other artists. While she’s able to teach a multitude of techniques, her focus has always remained on the swinging play of intention and spontaneity that characterizes all creative processes. Jane is a full time artist working in encaustic, painting, and collage. The artist offers workshops nationwide and at her studio, where she focuses on helping people to find a playful and personal approach to art. She tries to pave the way into that wobbly unknown zone to the next zone, where they are challenged to forge a personal path, and with her guidance, to discover the satisfaction of art-making that is truly their own. The framed Jane Davies art is appealing to many art collectors who usually put high price tags on them. She began as a potter in the early 90s, but later on, she moved to designing fabric, tableware, stationery, paper goods, and other products, using collage and painting as her medium.
