Cynthia J. Coulter (January 16, 1951 - April 20, 2013) was an artist whose works became quite famous in the U.S., borrowing a lot from American folk art items. She was quite passionate about art and she made sure that she followed it through her formal education and in her daily life. After completing her high school studies at the John Marshall High School, she continued with her art studies at the University of Texas and Iowa before joining the University of Colorado for her Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture. That wasn’t enough for her, opting to continue with her studies at the University of Oklahoma, earning her Master of Fine Arts degree. She created several art pieces, enhancing her artistic prowess and enabling her to create a strong artistic style. Due to the appealing nature of her art, they were used to make murals that narrate stories. Cynthia also got advantaged because of her life that consisted of her stay in Oklahoma, Hong Kong, and Chinatown, New York. From these backgrounds, her art was somehow influenced, adding to her content and approach. Although she passed on April 20, 2013, her creative pieces are still selling widely. Moreover, they’ve been reviewed by publishers and have earned her several awards. In the year 2000, she won the 2000 Artist of the Mohawk-Hudson Region Juried Exhibition. Cynthia also received New York Foundation for the Arts "Featured Artist." Her art continue to be exhibited are have mainly been sold and represented by Hudson based BCB ART.
